Wonderful cafe in the basement of the Tate Britain. After spending a morning marveling at works of art, you're bound to build up an appetite. I came here for lunch and was exceptionally surprised at how good the food was and how reasonable the prices were.
It's cafeteria-style, where you get in line and either get the grab'n go options, like ready-made sandwiches, salads or cakes, or you get into line and get the hot meals with stuff like fish and chips, soups and whatever else they have that day.
I'm usually hesitant about eating at touristy places because more often than not, the food is over-priced and bland tasting. Not here.
The egg sandwiches were filling and tasty, the carrot cake was rich as hell and I was lucky enough to catch a table for myself given how packed and full this spot was. I didn't hear a lot of tourist voices around me but rather many, many local Londoners so I'm guessing this must be a insider's spot for them to have lunch. Who could blame them? -

Good value well prepared food. I was impressed that the Fish and Chips were cooked to order. I believe they use Seabream instead of the more common Cod. The Seabream has a more delicate taste and texture. Chips were fresh also.
The Beef Stew and Quiche were likewise very good. The dishes were reasonably priced.
Nice pleasant space. -

Awesome!!!!! Delicious flatbread wraps. I got the the houmous + vegetable flatbread which had houmous, spinach, roasted red peppers, and flatbread. VEGAN!! Super super good. It was £4.50. Not too shabby. £2.25 per half. Yeah I'd say not too shabby. Would definitely eat it again. I think the hot bar options are a little more expensive just warning ya!!! Lots of seating. Have a lovely time xx

Not much charm, but a practical spot to have a bite, sip a tea or have some sweets. There's so much to see here in the galleries with the Blakes, Waterhouses and Turners, you'll need to take a break at some point.
